Ali Sunyaev is Professor of Computer Science and Director at the Institute for Applied Computer Science and Formal Description Methods (AIFB) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Ali Sunyaev studied computer science at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), where he received his PhD in business informatics in 2010. Afterwards, he worked as an assistant professor for business informatics at the University of Cologne. Prior to his appointment at KIT, he held the Chair of Information Systems and Systems Development and was Director at the Research Center for Information Technology Design (ITeG) at the University of Kassel. In 2011 and 2012, Ali Sunyaev worked as Visiting Faculty at the Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow and at the American Harvard University in Cambridge.

At the KIT, Ali Sunyaev leads the Critical Information Infrastructures (cii) research group.
